Tangled Radio has been in the eye of the storm for the past 3 years. Our work has focused primarily in Bury, but has often ventured out into Rochdale and Manchester. Through our work, we have been able to improve children and young people’s lives for the better. We were born from a creative project, with Reform Radio and since they enabled us to form, we’ve fought. From loneliness to children’s rights, to research, we’ve tried to do it all (hopefully we’ve helped!).
Tangled Radio has had some amazing success, reaching 6,000 listeners in the first year of broadcast, comparing to the recent 30,000 for 2018. We’ve started to grow so much, but now we need to pause.
Following a successful 3 years of broadcasting and amazing growth, we need to close the doors. We realise now, that mental health really matters.
With my current interests, from looked after children, to Esports. I am doing too much. I am studying a BA (Hons) Media Writing and Production at The University of Bolton, whilst working on Esportspedia’s Halo wiki. We’ve struggled with recruitment and actually running the station, and at the moment, I have to focus on university life, and actually enjoy my experience as a student.
For every radio presenter, to every producer, graphic designer and station manager: Tangled Radio would be nothing without you. Thank you so much for all the hard work and dedication you have all put into the station over the past 3 years, and this isn’t Goodbye, We will be back. This is a See you later.
Thank you all for everything. Please remember, that there are organisations that support care leavers: Roar Pursuits, Reform Radio, Greater Manchester Youth Network and The Prince’s Trust. You are NOT alone. Reach out. Every child in and leaving care matters. #ECLCM.- Tangled Radio CEO, Michael Morris
